ABOUT OUR PHILANTHROPY

Arthritis

Alpha Omicron Pi’s international philanthropy is arthritis, and our philanthropy partner is the Arthritis Foundation. Since 1967, members and chapters have raised millions of dollars to fund research, provide resources, and support those affected by arthritis, a disease that disproportionately impacts women and also affects children.

AOII’s philanthropy dollars support several impactful Arthritis Foundation initiatives, including the Juvenile Arthritis Power Pack program, Juvenile Arthritis Camps, the Juvenile Arthritis Family Summit, and the 24/7 Helpline. Our Canadian sisters proudly support The Arthritis Society of Canada, furthering our shared mission to fight arthritis and improve lives.

OUR Local Efforts

Our service efforts are focused on both national initiatives and local community engagement. We are dedicated to the Arthritis Foundation, recently participating in Juvenile Arthritis (JA) Day at the Clearwater Aquarium to support children and families affected by the disease. We also participate annually in the Jingle Bell Run to raise funds and awareness for arthritis research. On campus, our primary fall fundraiser is Rose King and Queen, a philanthropy competition that engages the USF community. We also maintain a strong commitment to our chapter philanthropy, Sisters for Soldiers, through which we organize care packages and support for active-duty military and veterans. These events allow our members to balance their academic lives with a consistent commitment to service.
